Though much simpler than most of my other work, these portraits of my close school friends are really meaningful to me. Each of the people photographed has taught me about loving myself despite the exploitative and excluding nature of the media’s portrayal of women of color. The goal of this project was to highlight their raw beauty and power, as well as capture the love between us.
