Ruth Hardy

(she/her)

Ruth Hardy is a self-taught oil painter based in Houston, Texas. She's currently 17, and working mostly on the portraiture of people in the black community, as well as other POC. Something she embodies in her everyday life is to represent the underrepresented. As a teenage, African American women she knows what it means to be underrepresented in the art world. The goal of her artwork is to shine a light on others and provide a fresh perspective, showing the viewer what is in her mind. She is a creative who takes deep consideration in her process of painting. This is because she feels in some ways it is more important than the final product itself.

From childhood, all I ever asked for was pencils and crayons. I would draw on walls and furniture, though this made my parents angry with me, this impulse of creativity I expressed would later make me in the artist I am. My creativity, therefore, is my identity. So Creative Identity. When someone ask what I call myself, I say I am a creative entrepreneur.
